چکیده
This study investigated the one-pot hydrothermal synthesis of mixed-phase ion-exchangers from waste amber container glass and three different aluminium sources (Si/Al = 2) in 4.5 M NaOH(aq) at 100 °C. Reaction products were characterised by X-ray diffraction analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, 27Al 29Si magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy scanning electron microscopy 24, 48 150 h. Nitrated forms cancrinite sodalite predominant obtained with reagent grade nitrate (Al(NO3)3∙9H2O). Waste foil gave rise to sodalite, tobermorite zeolite Na-P1 as major phases; principal arising amorphous hydroxide A. Minor proportions hydrogarnet, katoite, calcite also present each sample. In case, crystallisation was incomplete 52, 65 49% crystallinity h for samples prepared (AN-150), (AF-150) (AH-150), respectively. Batch Pb2+-uptake (~100 mg g−1) similar all 150-h irrespective nature composition product. Cd2+-uptakes AF-150 (54 AH-150 (48 greater than that AN-150 (36 indicating sodalite- tobermorite-rich exhibited a superior affinity Cd2+ ions. The observed Pb2+- Cd2+-uptake capacities mixed-product compared favourably those other inorganic waste-derived sorbents reported literature.

The deRnition and some characteristic concepts regarding organic ion exchangers are pointed out. The development of these ion exchangers, beginningwith chemically modiRed natural products and continuing with the synthetic ones, is further presented.
